So I finally found my camera today while I was picking up my room, so I HAD to take my Purple Folder picture! I got it last Thursday so a week and two days ago! Well better late than never I guess. Sorry it is a little fuzzy I took it by myself and they always end up being a little off.

Makeup!

Okay my polyvore of the day! I thought I would share with everyone (especially the girls), what makeup I wear on a daily basis. Now I may not wear ALL of this everyday but generally speaking, yeah! Sometimes I am too lazy to put any on and sometimes only my eye make up. I have fairly sensitive skin so I need makeup that won't give me hives. This is what I use!

First Day at Disney outfit!

Hi my name is Laura and I am a Polyvore addict.
Seriously though it is very addicting and I just can't stop doing it! When I get bored and need a break from school work, I polyvore! I have sort of run low on things to talk about right now as I still have about 6 months to wait before I go to Disney. So in between the things I have to say I will be posting my polyvore outfits. Road Trip outfit!!

So I have a very long break on Tuesdays and I was VERY bored so I decided to try out polyvore. I must say it is addictive and fun! This is my take on the perfect driving to Florida outfit! Hope you enjoy!

Okay so I am updating this post to say how much everything is. For the most part I try to find things that are actually affordable. The only thing I don't always pay attention to is jewelry because it is hard to find cheap things on polyvore that I can find in realy life so here is the rundown:

Still can't believe it!!

It has officially been a week since I got accepted to the Fall 2010 program and I still can't believe it! It doesn't feel real yet. I know that I am going, I am already making a packing list, but I can't wrap my mind around the fact that I will be in Disney for 5 months!!! I already found a roommate, her name is Brynn! She is AWESOME!! We are looking for apartment mates though so if anyone is interested let me know. We have talked to a few people about it but none are definite that I know of.

I got my purple folder last week in the mail but I can't find my camera to take "The Picture" yet! As soon as I do it will be up on here and on the facebook group!

So I am going to talk a little about my plans for getting down there! I am trying to convince my dad that we need to leave on Friday the 6th so we can get there that night. We live in Pittsburgh PA so it is about a 15-18 hour car ride depending on the amount of times we stop. My dad is a bat out of hell when it comes to getting to Florida so we have made it there in about 13 before! I am hoping to get there mid day Friday and hit up DTD and maybe go swimming. Then on Saturday I want to go to the Magic Kingdom (with our Give a Day, Get a Day passes) so I can spend one day in the parks with my family before they leave! Sunday I want to relax go to DTD , do the pre-check-in dinner and then go to bed SUPER early so me and Brynn can be at Vista by 7! We are going so early because we really want a nice room and we want to get moved in ASAP!!!

Now our plans for the first few days consist of going to DTD on day 2 to eat of Earl of Sandwich and go to the World of Disney Store!!! It is going to be AWESOME!!! Then after Traditions we are going to probably hit up MK and ride somethings then watch Wishes (and cry!!! because of all the excitement). It basically sounds like the most awesome thing ever!

So I got into Custodial and everyone makes it sound like they had a blat there! I was a little nervous at first but that is gone now and I am just pumped! I think I am going to go buy my shoes before I leave because most people have said that if you work in the parks you just have to wear black shoes (for custodial). I am going to email recruiting and tell them that I would prefer a park (specifically EPCOT) over a resort or waterpark. I know it isn't definite but it doesn't hurt to try! Also I wanted a high guest interaction role so this is probably perfect!! I get more excited every day!!!
Well I have been sort of rambling, but I haven't posted in a few days so I had a lot to say! I hope everyone is getting excited! Also I want to say Congratulations to everyone who has gotten in in the last few days, can't wait to meet everyone down there! Also if you are still waiting I am sending an army of pixies out today to bring you all lots of pixie dust! They should be arriving at everyone's houses within the next few hours! I hope you all get in!

This is a picture from this summer when I went to NYC! It is of the HUGE World of Disney store there! It felt like a mini trip to Disney in the middle of a city! I think we spent almost 2 hours in there! It was awesome!

What do you think you did better this time that helped you get accepted as opposed to last time?

I think that this time was better because I picked more roles and more in demand roles. As I have said before I only picked four last time two of them being ones that have very few acceptances. I got into custodial this time and last time I didn't even put it down as an option! I think I got custodial because I put it in my top 4 and they need so many people to do it that if you put it in your top few that they will most likely give it to you.
Also last time my interviewer seemed like she hated me and the world. It felt like from the beginning of the interview that she wasn't going to accept me. I may have been paranoid but I didn't get in, so not that paranoid!

I am least looking forward to being away from my family for the holidays. Don't get me wrong I am very excited to be there during the holiday, I have just never been away from my family for them!

now that you are in, are you going to be so worked up over having to wait to actually arrive as you were just waiting for notification? you seemed to go crazy not wanting to wait the time frame they gave you. now you gotta wait months.

No I was very anxious to find out when I would get accepted because I didn't get in last time. I was so anxious because I know that the time frame that they gave me is just a suggestion of when they will actually let you know. The day I am arriving is a definite and there is no way I am going to be there any earlier. I am going to be anxious to get there and it is months away, but I now know that I am going to Disney and that will help with the wait! I will try not to annoy you with my excitement but if it is annoying you, you don't have to read it!

I'm too excited to sleep!

So I think I am going to post about my acceptance letter! OOH, AAH!
I am normally very good with computers but for some reason I can not figure out how to post a picture of my acceptance email, so you are all just going to have to believe me that I did actually get accepted! So the chain of events leading up to and including my acceptance!

So first off I have never had an acceptance dream about the CP until two days ago. I had a dream where I got three acceptance emails and then a rejection email. It was a strange mix of emotions when I woke up and I thought it was real. Then the next night (last night) I had another one. First I want to say that I am in the process of looking for a car to buy to take with me. So the second dream was that my sister won a car and gave me the car that she already has so that I could have a car for the CP. Do two dreams... weird.

Also all day today I had been having these horrible nauseating feelings and I kept thinking, I know I am going to find out today, I can feel it, but it isn't going to be good news. Have I ever been happier to be wrong!

Today my differential equations class is over at 9 and my next class is not until 1 so I have a nice long break to sit around campus and waste time! At 9 I set up shop at a table in the lounge with my trusty laptop and sack lunch. I start to check my email and facebook and my blog and the dis boards to see if there was any news... none. I was a little bummed but since no one had heard I wasn't upset yet. I had a program due for my java class at one so I told myself that I would not check my email before I finished it. I started around 10:30 and finished a little before 12:00. When I am checking to see if I have been accepted I normally check faccebook first to see if anyone else has but this time was different. I immediately went to my yahoo account and saw that I had an email from a contact. Not just any contact but THE contact. WDW Recruiting! And in the subject line "Your Invitation". Well can I just say I started to cry and I couldn't stop shaking. Now I just want to remind all of you that I am sitting in a public lounge with probably 20 other college students sitting around me! I couldn't contain myself so I called everyone I could think of! It basically was the best moment of my life so far.

Nothing can bring me down! As I head off to my 1 o'clock class I get there and there is a sign on the board saying that my teacher wont be there until 1:30. 1:30 comes and goes and still no teacher. At 2:25 and aide shows up and tells us that she is not coming and to turn in our assignments and leave. The class is normally over at 2:40! I had to wait 4 hours to sit in class for an hour and 25 minutes only to be told that my teacher wasn't going to make it! Well if something could bring me down, I knew it was going to be her. She has been a pain in my keaster all semester!

Anyways, I am super excited and I don't think I stopped shaking for a few hours!

First Thank you! Second I had to wait 22 days so three weeks and one day! I think I had to wait so long because I got accepted into custodial and I think I am one of the first people. Also I did almost go nuts but blogging helped and talking on the facebook group really helped! If you are still waiting, hold in there you will hear soon too!!!

So Laura you have just been accepted into the program of your dreams, What are you going to do next?

I AM GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!
Yes you read that right, me, Laura Metzger, just got accepted into the WDW College Program for the fall 2010 season!
I got accepted into Custodial and I am super excited!!!! I can't write to much right now as I have class in about 20 minutes but I will say thank you for all the support everyone has shown me. I also want to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!! to everyone else who got accepted today, guess what... We are going to Disney World!!!!!!
When I saw the "You's Invitation" instead of "Status Update" I started to cry because I knew I got in! This has been a long hard road for me but I a so happy to have the final destination be Disney!
Alright more later today! Also I think I am going to start a vlog now that I am accepted so be on the look out for that!

Why did you get rejected last semester?

I don't actually know. I didn't call because I was so distraught that I had a feeling that I would break down and cry while I was on the phone with them. I really think the biggest problem was the fact that I only picked four roles. I picked Merch, Attractions, Concierge, and Hospitality. I am not really qualified for any of those roles because I have only worked in restaurants. I wish, in retrospect, that I would have called and asked why, but I didn't so now all I can do is wait!

Day 18!

e are now on day 18 of our Safari into 'The Land of Magic and Make-believe'. We have been looking for the illusive 'Purple Folder'. Some have been spotted by other members of our team, but most of us have yet to capture one of our own. They are slippery devils and are only seen very few hours a day. We thought we had narrowed down the sightings to a certain time frame between the hours of around 7am to 4pm. That has now been shown to be wrong when a few members of the team were able to capture one between 1 and 3 am! We now all are on edge due to the fact that we can not seem to figure out the pattern at which they move. It is erratic and nonsensical. Few members have slept more than a few hours each night, trying to stay on the lookout. It has been a long journey and all are getting discouraged. We are asking for any information that you have regarding the 'Purple Folder' to please be posted here for all to see!

Feeling Better!

So I was feeling down earlier today because more people were getting responses but I hadn't. But just a little while ago I was on the CP Fall 2010 Facebook page and we were discussing the fact that we think everyone who has received their acceptances were in one general area of the country. A girl by the name of Caitlin told us that from what she knows last semester when they were accepting it was done by region. This is making me feel sooooo much better because it seems I am in the region that hasn't received them yet! Even if that isn't true I am going to keep telling myself that. Well I hope we all hear something soon! Keep thinking purple.

Congrats to everyone!

First I just want to say Congratulations to everyone who got accepted this morning (very early)!!!
That being said I don't know how much more I can take of this waiting. It seems that most people who are getting accepted are getting accepted for merchandise and attractions where those were in my top 4 I am hoping to get my number 1 of FSFB. I am hoping that is the reason why I didn't get mine yet that they only sent out those roles today. I am kidding myself of course, because I know people are already getting accepted into FSFB, I think Abby from Abby in Wonderland got FSFB. I just need to be patient but it is so hard when everyone around you is getting good news and you are left in the dark. I am trying to be optimistic but everyday people get accepted and I don't, it really casts a shadow over my optimism. I am self loathing and very sorry but I felt I needed to get this out of me and onto paper (or a blog). Also don't forget to springform me any questions you have. I am a treasure trove of knowledge. Especially about Disney!

when disney says it typically takes 4-6 weeks to hear, why are you beating yourself up and worrying after only 2 weeks?

I am because I was told 2-3 weeks by my interviewer. Also people who interviewed at the same time as me are already finding out, and last time I applied it took 17 days so that is only a little over 2 weeks. I started worrying the moment I got off the phone not just after 2 weeks. I want to do this so badly and everything is riding on this interview and this email. That is why I am worrying!

So people have been saying that not everyone gets an acceptance email and they just get the purple folder in the mail. Well because of all the snow we haven't received mail since Friday. Now I am getting paranoid that they aren't going to send me an email and just the folder in the mail and I am not going to get it for days and days and days! Oh the agony! LOL Oh well I will survive (I hope). Pixie Dust to Everyone!

The wait is KILLING me!

So it is 3:08 on Monday and it has officially been 2 weeks since my interview. I have now checked me email about 100 times today and nothing new. I am pretty sure that they sent out the emails around this time on Friday and the longer I go without hearing the more anxious I get. I keep setting little goals that I have to finish before I can check my email. One was finish this load of dishes, or pick up the living room and now it is finish this post! lol I am going crazy! I keep checking on facebook and DisBoards and it seems that no one has heard yet and if they have they have not posted it yet. I didn't have school today either because of all the snow so I had nothing to distract me during the day. Also now they are calling for 6 - 10 more inches! On top of the 20 we already have. I don't think we have had this much snow EVER! I am defiantly going to loose my mind if I don't hear by the end of the week. Well I really wanna go check my email now so I am going to end this now but Good Luck to everyone who is still waiting I am sending pixie dust and I will be doing the purple folder dance to the Disney gods for all of us!

Snowed in at the House of Mouse!

Ok so not really though that would be cool, but I am snowed in at my house. We have over 20 inches, the second most amount in my life time. I have been so bored today I was looking at everything I can about Disney. Obsessive, yes. Awesome, yes!


This is my backyard. I could only get the door open 2 inches to squeeze my camera out to get this picture.

So clearly they do not send out acceptance emails on Saturdays going on no one has received any today that I know of. I am going nuts. I have cabin fever and I still haven't heard about Disney! I really just needed to write this to get some sort of my energy out. I ran around in the snow today like a five year old, and it was amazing! I need to find something to do. They are now telling us that we should not leave the house tomorrow either. Oh man I need it to be Monday (I have never said that before).

So I think I need to go watch Snowed in at the House of Mouse now. Well I will talk to you all soon!

Getting Discouraged

Alright so today is the first day people are starting to get accepted. Now I know only a small handful of people actually got in today but I was not one of those people. If you have read my previous posts you know that I applied on January 25. Some of the people who got in interview on the 25 and some even on the 26 so now I am nervous. Again I know that only a few people got in. I think I am so nervous because I didn't get in last time and I don't know if I can handle another rejection. I really do feel better than last time and I picked roles I was qualified for so my chances are pretty good. I really have been trying not to tell people about me applying this time because I told so many people last time then when I didn't get in everyone kept asking me about it. It hurt every time. I just really hope that I won't have to do that again. Well more pixie dust to everyone waiting and another purple folder dance to the Disney gods! Also congratulations to everyone who got their folders today, hope to see you down there!

The Interview!

Alright I have been trying to remember my interview and I think I've got most of it down. So she called at 3 exactly which was very nice because I am not a patient waiter. She started off by asking me all the general questions making sure every thing on my application was correct. Then she asked me about my previous job experience. I explained that I am currently a hostess and have also worked as a waitress in two other restaurants. I also threw in that I worked in a dentist's office and they used an electronic appointment book that I had to run. I thought this would help with FSFB because it uses electronic reservation systems.

Next she said that I had answered one of her questions so I was glad about that. She also asked me a few questions about FSFB like how I greet people. She then told me that I seem to know what the FSFB would entail. She then said the Attractions may include answering an emergency and if I would be comfortable with that, and I said yes. She also asked me if I would be comfortable talking to a group of people and if I and any experience with it. I said I would be comfortable with it but the only experience I have is giving speeches in class in front of peers. So she said if I got a spiel ride it would probably be a smaller ride.

She then told me that custodial is a little different than the other roles I picked and went on to explain what it entails. I told her that I picked it because I really love the parks and I think I would be very good at explaining where things are in the park.

She then asked if I could satisfy the Disney look and I explained that I have a tattoo on my foot. I told her all about it and she informed me that the only roles I could not do would be BBB and lifeguard. That is fine with me because I can't do other peoples hair and I can't swim. She said that any other role I would have to do a role that has a sock which is fine with me! I told her I basically would do anything to get to go.

I think it went well and at the end I told her I had applied before and she asked if I had made it or not. I told her no and she said that she was very happy to see that I was reapplying and over the last few years they have been having an overwhelming amount of people applying. All in all the interview lasted about 16 minutes. Well here I go rambling again. And so continues the Purple Folder Wait! Let us all pray the the purple folder gods in hopes of a prompt (and good) response.

I get into my blog and what do I see... FOLLOWERS!!! I got so excited I squealed. Actually squealed, like how I squeal when I get to see the castle for the first time every time I go to Disney! Still can't sleep!

Alright so it is 5:07 in the morning as I start this and let me say I have not been to bed yet tonight. Thank goodness I don't have class until 1:00 tomorrow (or should I say today). So I decided to run down my top roles and say where I want to work if I were to get each role. I am telling you about my top 4 because they asked me what my top 4 roles were. However narrowing it down from 11 was a bit tricky.

First up FSFB! My number one place would be Tony's because it is my favorite restaurant at Disney and it is right off of Main Street USA! However, if I can't work there I would like to work at The Corral Reef Restaurant. The living seas is one of my favorite things at Disney. I LOVE MANATEES!!!

Attractions! I would love to work really almost anywhere but if I had to narrow it down I would pick (In no particular order):
~*~Buzz Light Year
~*~Toy Story Mania
~*~Rocking Roller Coaster
~*~Haunted Mansion
~*~Peter Pan

Merch! So my top pick would be working at ANY of the stores on Main Street. It is really my favorite place at any park. But if I can't get a job there I would like to work at DTD!

Custodial! So first I want to say that I picked custodial in my top 4 because even though you have to clean up after everyone, you really get to interact with the park guests. I love all of the parks so much, and you really are normally the first person that they see, that I feel like I could really help people find where they are going. That being said if I get picked for it I would love to work in the Magic Kingdom but specifically in Frontierland. If I couldn't get that then I would pick the World Showcase at Epcot!

First Entry!

WARNING: I have horrible grammar and spelling. I always have long run on sentences and I apologize now to anyone who this annoys. English is my first language but my mother jokes that it is mumble. Also I don't really like English(as in writing) hence the whole engineering thing! Enjoy!

Hi everyone! So this is my first blog EVER! LOL Be nice. So I decided after reading so many of your lovely blogs that I would start one of my own. I am going to start with telling you just a little about me.

My name is Laura and I am a 21 year old female. I live right outside of the city of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania (Not to be confused with Pittsburg California!) We are one of the only burg's with an h at the end! Fascinating. Anywho I love all things Disney and have for my entire life. I am currently attending the local community college and plan to transfer to PITT after the program is over. I am a Mechanical Engineering major and my dream is to work at Disney as an Imagineer when I get out of school. I want to use the CP as a stepping stone to bigger and better things.

On to the program! (If you can't tell I love "!!!!!") I applied last fall for the Spring program and sadly did not get accepted. I only put down about 4 roles I was willing to do and I think that was my downfall. This time, however, I went back over all the roles and really thought about what each entailed and if I was willing to do them. After the reassessment I pick a whopping 11 roles! As not to bore you with the details I will just tell you my top 4.
They are:
1. FSFB
2. Attractions
3. Merch
4. Custodial
I really do feel I have a good chance with FSFB because I currently (and always have) worked at an Italian restaurant as a hostess. I got the job in high school and have stayed ever since 4 years later. I am the head hostess, if you can call it that, and currently run 2 other hostesses. We are a very small restaurant but I love it.

Last time I applied I did not pick FSFB because I wanted to try something new, then I decided that working at Disney is something new! So I applied the third day applications were up and because I have applied in the last 6 months I didn't have to retake the online interview portions! That was very nice. I had my interview on last Monday (January 25) at 3. The lady I had was very nice (much nicer than the lay I had last time). I did not, however, catch her name so I can not tell you it. The interview is a slight haze to me but I know I felt good after. I may post more about it later but not right this second. This is now my 9th day of waiting and it already is killing me!

Well I really don't want to ramble on in my first post but because I have already started the process there is some things I needed to catch everyone up on.
